BIO バイオ

PBS gave me my first boost of creativity. I was 5 years old and Sesame Street was on. I still remember it vividly, the colorful full-bodied figures dancing to the beat telling me to exit. I grabbed a story book of mine along with one of my markers and began doodling the characters. That Keith Haring skit changed the game for me. I can’t say if that made me an artist or if I hadn't seen it that I wouldn't have picked up a paint brush but I will say It inspired me to doodle my a@# off. I haven't stopped doodling since then and with the help of two women, my Mom and my Aunt, I was taught I could do this for the rest of my life... If I loved it.

OF COURSE, I had family members and people telling me "you can't make a living off art" and that I need to get a stable job with benefits, and trust me I've had a lot of crap jobs and ate a lot of sh*#  but none of them truly supported me or fed my Hunger. I paint because I love it, I feel I can express myself and tell my story through art. No matter what form you see my art in, it always follows my mission statement and represents who I am.

FOREVER HUNGRY came to me when I graduated high school. I always felt I had the Entrepreneur mind set. My best friend and I were creating businesses left and right, then failing left and right. We never cried over our failures, we just kept moving in our city learning from those that were older and willing to help us out. Our successes were sweet! It always felt good and I knew I'd always want to create my own future, my way. My hunger was growing and I was eating. I would create a goal, accomplish it, and move on to the next and realized this one thing. When you finish a goal do you stop and relax? HELL NAW! You create a new one and go after it! You'll never be full, you're going to continue eating. I was 18, and I walked into the local tattoo shop and got 永遠に空腹。 (Forever Hungry in Japanese) Tattooed on my right forearm.

Some people are extremely hungry, some are kind of hungry, some need a "wake up" call to be hungry and some are just completely comfortable with where they're at. I speak to all of those, and even those that are completely comfortable can lose all of that comfort, and when that happens, hunger needs to kick in to survive. I'm no inspirational speaker, nor am I trying to be. I'm just trying to create visual reminders for people to wake up and live their life to their fullest potential. We're all capable of great things and nothing in life is impossible. If someone has done it before, it can be done again and even better. HOW HUNGRY ARE YOU? That's the question we all need to ask ourselves before we say we can't or don't know how. Stay Hungry!

WHY なぜ?

I'M TRYING TO MOTIVATE PEOPLE WITH MY ART. IT'S THAT SIMPLE. I WAS TOLD BY MY MOM TO "DO WHAT YOU LOVE" AND AT THE SAME TIME CRITICIZED BY OTHERS FOR DOING WHAT I LOVED. I JUST WANT TO SHOW PEOPLE THAT DOING WHAT YOU LOVE TAKES STEPS AND REQUIRES A WHOLE LOT OF HUNGER AND I TRY TO SHOW THAT THROUGH MY ART.
