WHO! remembers Kenan Thompson as SUPERDUDE?! Or Josh Server as Walter the Earboy and Detective Dan, The detective that couldn't get anything fuggin' right. ALL THAT was and still is hands down one of my favorite TV shows growing up in the 90's! The comedy in the show to me is still just as funny to this day. I always felt like the sketches on ALL THAT were not the normal "childhood" TV comedy you would watch on Nickelodeon. It was the perfect balance of MAD TV and Saturday Night Live but made for a youngster preteen. Don't get me wrong I watched a lot of SNL and MAD TV because my mom watched both every Saturday night; but the humor for me (of course) was WAY more relatable on ALL THAT.
Real Talk though, Didn't all of you feel the same way about the show? I've seen a good amount of the "Youngster" comedy on TV today and in my opinion nothing has reached the level of Comedy ALL THAT has. It was Grimey, the cast was funny looking, they had tons of relevant celebrity cameos and the MUSIC! Oh yes the Muthafuggin' music was on point! They had an intro performed by TLC and tons of musical guests from the hottest music artists at the time. You just don't get that today, but then again I think about it and I feel todays generation probably wouldn't appreciate this style of television. Solely because of technology.
Let's face it; More kids are on their phones, computers and tablets. So if they ARE on their television, they're likely using Netflix or the YouTube app. If a television show was to survive like this and stay relevant, they'd have to adapt to the tech world. My advice would be to make a youtube channel or Netflix exclusive and create a big social media presence. Imagine if ALL THAT was here today with the same exact timeline and show focus(I.e. Comedy, Music, Sports etc.), It would kill with an online presence and probably make an ish' ton of money. The cast could interact more with their following, drop ALL THAT soundtrack mixtapes (exclusive to apple music) and video shorts. The possibilities would be endless simply because ALL THAT spoke to the culture and connected with us from a simple TV show without social media. But shiiiiit, this is just my opinion and thoughts. I could be completely wrong about it all except for the fact ALL THAT was THEE best comedy show for me as a youngster in the 90's.
Honestly how do you feel about it all? Any thoughts you have drop me a comment, I wanna' know what you think. YEE!
